Practical Τraining is an integral part of university studies as it constitutes one of the most important ways to establish connections between theory and practice. The main objective of Practical Training is to contribute to the correct usage of the skills and knowledge acquired by students during their studies, as well as the most beneficial way to become acquainted with the labour market.

The aim is to establish a connection between students of the Department of Mediterranean Studies with the workplaces related to the cognitive fields which are the object of study and research of the department.

The main objectives of Practical Training are the following:

  • The connection between theoretical and laboratory studies with the practical application in the labour market.
  • The updating of students with the new trends and needs of the labour market and the demand for specific specialties and skills required.
  • The creation of a secure channel of communication between the Department and the labour market so as to facilitate a cooperation between them and thus reinforce their attempt to achieve their career aspirations.

Marianthi Georgallidou Associate Professor, was appointed Head of the Department of Mediterranean Studies in the framework of the project “Internship of Higher Education of the University of the Aegean” for the academic years from 2018-19 to 2021-22 (for the period from 01.11.2018 to 31.10.2022), on the basis of No. 9 / 28.11.2018 decision of the Assembly of the Department.
