Σακκάς Ιωάννης John Sakkas is Associate Professor for Modern Mediterranean History at the University of the Aegean, Rhodes. He received his Ph.D. in History from Hull University, UK, with a thesis on British policy in Greece and the Middle East in the 1940s supervised by the late professor John Saville. He has lectured through the Erasmus Programme at the Universities of Mannheim and Padova and he is the director of two e-learning programmes on modern Greek and European History. He has published papers and chapters on modern Mediterranean History and his current research focuses on a) the Cold War period and b) on the late 1930s and the Anglo-Italian antagonism in the eastern Mediterranean.
