Christos Ziogas is a PhD in International Relations, at Department of International, European and Area Studies at Panteion University. Since then he has been teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. For the last three years he has been teaching in the Mediterranean Studies Department of the University of the Aegean: Theory and Methodology of International Relations, Greek-Turkish Relations, International Security Issues and Special Issues in International Relations. In the past three year, he has also served as Adjunct Lecturer at Hellenic Army Academy, teaching International Relations.<\/p>\n

\nThe term \u201cpolitical economy in classical economics, was by and large synonymous with economic analysis. During the most part of the 20th century economic analysis has neglected the wider social, political, even moral factors affecting economic decisions of individuals and societies. This class will introduce you to the theories of economics and politics that underlie debates between politicians and commentators in modern life. You will learn about the classic debates among economists and political scientists about the role of government in the market and apply these theories to an important contemporary debate.<\/p>\n
\nThe aim of this course is the understanding, the analysis and evaluation of the goals and means in the conduct of foreign policy. Will be presented the theories and analytic tools used for the study of state behavior in the context of the three analysis levels (person, state, system). Emphasis will be placed on the role of the leader, of bureaucracy, on the political and social parameters that define the formulation of foreign policy, especially in the post \u2013 Cold War era, and the changes in the international system.<\/p>\n
\nThe primary goal of this course is to provide you with an overview of the major contemporary issues in international security as well as an understanding of the field of \u201csecurity studies\u201d.This course provides a broad conceptual framework for understanding and analyzing the main challenges to international security, and for assessing the appropriate policy responses. This includes an assessment of how the main theories of International Relations provide insights into international security and the conditions for war and peace.
