Manolis I. Stefanakis is Professor in Classical Archaeology and Numismatics in the Department of Mediterranean Studies, University of the Aegean. Director of the University of the Aegean Archaeological Research in Kymissala, Rhodes (held in collaboration with the Ephorate of Antiquities of the Dodecanese) since 2006. Co-director (with Professor Nikolaos Stampolidis) of the excavation (held in collaboration with the University of Crete and the Ephorate of Antiquities of Rethymno) of the fortified citadel of Orne in Retymno, Crete, since 2016.<\/p>\n

Co-founder and Publishing Director (with Dr. Nikos Litinas) of the annual scientific journal Eulimene: Studies in Classical Archaeology, Epigraphy, Numismatics and Papyrology, Rethymno: Mediterranean Archaeological Society (ISSN 1108-5800) and of Eulimene Series of Independent Publications, Rethymno: Mediterranean Archaeological Society. Co-founder and Publishing Director (with Assist. Prof. Sotiris Ntalis) of the annual scientific journal Yearbook of Mediterranean Studies, Rhodes.<\/p>\n

Member of the Local Archaeological Council of the Dodecanese. He was awarded the Gold Budge of the Polish Numismatic Society (Warsow) for his contribution in Greek Numismatics. He has taught Classical Archaeology at the School for Tour Guides (Herkaleion) and at the Universities of Crete, Thessaly and the Greek Open University.<\/p>\n

His research interests focus on Classical Archaeology, Ancient Greek Numismatics, Archaeology and Sustainability and Archaeoseismology.<\/p>\n
