Η Μαρία Μηνά είναι Επίκουρη Καθηγήτρια επί Θητεία στο Τμήμα Μεσογειακών Σπουδών του Πανεπιστημίου Αιγαίου και διδάσκει το αντικείμενο “Προϊστορική Αρχαιολογία της Ανατολικής Μεσογείου”. Έχει επίσης εκλεγεί στην Εκτελεστική Επιτροπή του Συνδέσμου European Association of Archaeologists (2019-2022), και διατελεί μέλος των διεθνών Εταιρειών Association for Coroplastic Studies και Archaeology and Gender in Europe. Παράλληλα, έχει διατελέσει κριτής στα διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά Cambridge Archaeological Journal και Hesperia, The Journal of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, αλλά και για τις εκδόσεις της Εταιρείας The Prehistoric Society.

Η Μαρία Μηνά σπούδασε Αρχαιολογία στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Southampton σε προπτυχιακό και μεταπτυχιακό επίπεδο, ενώ ολοκλήρωσε τις διδακτορικές της σπουδές στο Institute of Archaeology, University College London. Έχει διδάξει στο Ελληνικό Ανοικτό Πανεπιστήμιο, στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου και στο Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου, έχει εργασθεί ως ερευνήτρια στο Τμήμα Αρχαιοτήτων Κύπρου και έχει συμμετάσχει σε ερευνητικά προγράμματα πεδίου στην Ελλάδα και στην Κύπρο. Είναι επίσης μέλος της ειδικής ομάδας επιστημόνων του ερευνητικού προγράμματος «Neolithic Knossos Publication Project», υπό την αιγίδα της Βρετανικής Σχολής Αθηνών (επιβλέποντες Δρ. Β. Ισαακίδου και Δρ. P. Tomkins).

Η Μαρία Μηνά έχει οργανώσει δύο διεθνή συνέδρια με τίτλο «Four Decades of Hiatus in Archaeological Research in Cyprus: Towards Restoring the Balance» (2016) και «Embodied Identities in the Prehistoric Eastern Mediterranean: Convergence of Theory and Practice» (2012, σε συνεργασία με την κ. Σ. Τριανταφύλλου και τον κ. Γ. Παπαδάτο). Έχει επίσης συμμετάσχει σε σειρά διεθνών συνεδρίων και ημερίδων, όπως είναι το Sheffield Centre for Aegean Archaeology Round Table, και τα συνέδρια “Minoan Archaeology: Challenges and Perspectives for the 21st Century” (Heidelberg) και “Finds and Results of the Swedish Cyprus Expedition: A Gender Perspective” (Στοκλχόμη).
